🏹 Hunter's Moon
Typically in October · Upcoming: October 26, 2026, October 15, 2027
Meaning
The full moon immediately following the Harvest Moon, this one historically lit the fields after the harvest was in, making it easier to hunt game fattened on fallen grain before winter. It carries a sharper, more decisive energy than its predecessor — the moon of preparation and provisioning.
Folklore & Origin
European and Algonquian traditions both independently developed hunting-season names for this moon, reflecting its practical role before refrigeration, when communities needed to stock meat for winter.
A Simple Ritual
Identify one practical thing you need to 'stock up on' before a harder season ahead — savings, rest, support, supplies — and take one concrete action toward it.
