πΎ Harvest Moon
Typically in September or October Β· Upcoming: September 15, 2027
Meaning
Unlike the other named moons, the Harvest Moon is not tied to a fixed calendar month β it is simply the full moon that falls closest to the autumn equinox, in late September most years and occasionally in early October. Its extra-bright, early-rising light historically let farmers keep harvesting well after sunset. Spiritually, it is a moon of gathering in what you have grown all year and taking stock before the dark half of the year begins.
Folklore & Origin
The name predates written European astronomy and was used by farming communities across many cultures because consecutive evenings of moonrise occur unusually close together around the autumn equinox, extending the useful light for bringing in crops.
A Simple Ritual
Make a literal list of what you have 'harvested' this year β skills built, relationships deepened, lessons learned β and read it aloud before the moon.
