Full Moon Ritual: Release and Recharge
A full moon ritual is a practice for releasing what no longer serves you and celebrating what has grown since the new moon. The simplest version: write down what you're ready to let go of, read it under the moonlight, safely burn or tear up the paper, and finish with gratitude. Many people also charge crystals or water under the full moon.
Open the Moon Ritual PlannerWhy the full moon?
The full moon is the peak of the lunar cycle. Traditionally it is a time of culmination, clarity and release — when what was hidden comes to light.
Step-by-step full moon ritual
1. Take a cleansing shower or bath to mark the start.
2. Sit by a window or outside where you can see the moon, and breathe deeply.
3. Write what you are ready to release: habits, fears, resentments, old stories.
4. Read the list aloud, then safely burn it (or tear it up) and let it go.
5. Revisit your new moon intentions and give thanks for any progress.
Charging crystals and moon water
Place crystals or a glass jar of water on a windowsill or outside overnight. Check that a crystal is safe in water or sunlight before leaving it out.
Common questions
Can I do a full moon ritual if it's cloudy?
Yes. The moon's phase is the same whether or not you can see it.
How long does a full moon's energy last?
Most practitioners work within three days — the day before, of, and after the full moon.
